A THUG robbed a man at knifepoint in the early hours in Huddersfield.

He held a knife the victim’s throat before running off with his wallet.

Huddersfield CID are now appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at 2.15am on Tuesday.

A 23-year old man was walking home along Southgate and was next to the Tesco supermarket when he was approached from behind by a man who put what was believed to have been a knife to his throat and demanded cash.

The victim handed over his wallet and the suspect ran from the scene.

He was described as a black man, around 6-feet tall and of slim but athletic build.

He was wearing a red hooded top and had his face covered.

He also spoke with a soft 'southern' accent.
