A MAN has been jailed after returning to a supermarket three times to steal meat.

Patrick Harrington, 35, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted stealing £120 worth of meat from Sainsbury’s in Dewsbury.

Magistrates were told that the thefts took place on three occasions between July 26 and August 4.

The bench heard that on July 26 Harrington was seen in the meat aisle packing products into his rucksack before leaving the store.

On August 3 Harrington did the same again.

The next day he was caught after the store manager viewed the CCTV footage and called police.

Magistrates were told that Harrington, of Edge Avenue in Dewsbury, had 104 offences on his record.

They heard that he was a recovering heroin and crack cocaine addict.

Harrington had stolen to pay off the debt he owed to his dealers.

Magistrates were told that he was subject to prison recall as the offences were committed during his licence period.

They sentenced him to six weeks in custody.
