A CAR driver fled after an accident early today in which one of his passengers was seriously injured.

The Ford Orion they were travelling in failed to negotiate a bend in Lepton.

It mounted the pavement and then hit a wall and a lamp-post.

The accident was on Wakefield Road, near its junction with Greaves House Terrace at 2.30am today.

An 18-year-old man from Bradley was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious neck injuries.

Two other passengers had minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle is believed to have left the scene shortly after the crash.

Police today appealed for him to come forward.

They also said they wanted to hear from any witnesses.
