A MAN is in hospital after he was slashed in the face during a brawl in Birkby.

The altercation between two men broke out at the junction of Arnold Street at around 5.45pm last night. 

The 36-year-old suffered stab wounds to the face and remains in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. He was also arrested on suspicion of affray and drugs offences.

A 29-year-old man was located after attempting to flee the scene in a Ford Fiesta. He was arrested on suspicion of affray, assault and drugs offences and is currently still in custody.

Police vehicles were seen racing to Blacker Road and sealed off several streets fdr around three hours.
