A man smashed the window of a Huddersfield club with a champagne bottle after one of its lap dancers refused to meet him.

Duwayne Kaid, 35, had been with the woman at Cleopatra’s Lounge for most of the night.

But when she refused his request to meet up with him outside, he caused thousands of pounds’ damage to the window.

He pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage when he appeared at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said that the incident happened on December 27.

Kaid had been inside the Northumberland Street club earlier but returned at just before 6am.

Mr Bozman said: “He wanted to see a dancer he’d been with for much of his stay in the club. She didn’t want to speak to him and he thew a champagne bottle at the window of the club, causing it to crack.”

The self-employed plasterer then left but his car registration plates were identified using the club’s CCTV footage.

Upkar Bahia, mitigating, said that his client had been out celebrating with friends when they ended up at the lap dancing club.

Khaid had spent several hours and a large amount of money inside the club and had taken a shine to one of the dancers.

Mr Bahia told magistrates: “He’d arranged to meet her outside the club and was sat there waiting for her with some food. When she didn’t attend he went back to enquire where she was.

“He felt hard done by and threw the bottle over his shoulder - he was frustrated and intoxicated. He’d had a good night but it ended on a sour note.”

Magistrates ordered Kaid, of Church Street in Barnsley, to pay £1,500 compensation towards the broken window. He must also pay a £275 fine and £85 court costs.
