A WATERLOO man and a teenager have appeared in court accused of burgling a house after its occupants moved out.

Jamie Letremey, of Mitchell Avenue, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, were before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said that on January 13 the family living at the council house at Mitchell Avenue moved out. On January 16, neighbours reported seeing a figure in an upstairs window. They witnessed a male using a path to gain access and a smashed window to the rear.

Ms Fowler said: “Police entered with a police dog.

“They found two males in the upstairs bedroom.

“Letremey was hiding in the corner and the teenager was concealed in the wardrobe. The floorboards had been lifted in attempts to remove copper piping.”

The pair deny burglary. They claim that they had been given permission to stay at the address.

Their case was committed to Bradford Crown Court.

The teenager was given conditional bail not to contact two prosecution witnesses. Letremey, 28, was remanded in custody until January 26.
