One person was trapped after a van and car crashed on the M62 .

Three fire crews were sent to the scene of the smash westbound between junction 24 at Ainley Top and junction 25 at Brighouse close to Clough Lane in Rastrick at around 5.45pm yesterday.

They helped a man in a Vauxhall car which had been hit from behind by a Volvo lorry.

Queues built up after one lane was closed to traffic while firefighters from Rastrick, Cleckheaton and its technical rescue unit worked to release the man, who had become trapped due to the damage caused to the vehicle.

The car driver was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with chest and back pains along with suspected whiplash.
