A MAN wanted by the police was found hanging in stables in his garden, an inquest heard.

The body of Bernard McCluskey, of Towngate, Newsome, was found hanging from the rafters of the stables in his back garden on December 2 last year.

The Huddersfield inquest heard that the day before he was found he visited his ex-girlfriend Maureen Marren’s home in Primrose Hill.

After that visit Ms Marren called the police.

Mr McCluskey, who was 60, left her home before police arrived and went for drinks in his local pub.

When police went to visit him the next day they found his body.

A post-mortem revealed that Mr McCluskey had been drinking heavily.

Another former partner of Mr McCluskey, Marie French, said in a statement that he had been depressed and had said several times that he was thinking of hanging himself.

Deputy coroner Mark Hinchcliffe recorded a verdict of suicide.
