A MAN was brutally beaten and robbed next to a main Huddersfield road in broad daylight.

Now police are anxious to speak to anyone who saw the attack on Westbourne Road in Marsh shortly after 3pm on Sunday.

The 19-year-old victim was walking up the road when the two thugs approached him.

One hit him with a bottle and the other punched him.

He fell to the ground and they then rifled through his pockets and stole £40 before running away.

Both attackers are white and aged 19 to 21.

One has short dark hair cut neatly at the back and sides and he wore a grey tracksuit and black trainers.

His accomplice has short blond hair and he wore a dark blue top, jeans and white trainers.

The victim suffered a large cut above his right eye.

Det Con Russ Conlon, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: "This was a nasty attack on a Sunday afternoon next to a busy main road. Anyone who saw what happened should contact us immediately."
