A SOCCER-MAD Huddersfield boy will be the envy of his mates tomorrow when he steps out with the England squad in Portugal.

Manraj Bhullar, from Cowlersley, was one of 11 youngsters chosen as mascots for the first game - against France - in a contest by Euro 2004 sponsors McDonald's.

He is hoping he will go on the pitch holding the hand of Chelsea midfield star Frank Lampard.

His mum, Manjit, said: "He's a Chelsea supporter and would love to be with him."

Manraj flew out with his dad, Jag, from London's Heathrow Airport yesterday.

His mother will be watching the game on television at home, where the family run the Premier News and Wine store.

Manraj is a pupil at Outlane Junior School and captains the Deighton-based Yorkshire Lions soccer team, who play at Warrenside.

He and his father will watch the game from a VIP box at Lisbon's Stadium de Luz after Manraj and the other youngsters go out with the team.

Manjit said: "They're both really excited.

"I'm hoping to get a glimpse of them on television," she added.
