A COUPLE who met at church are now celebrating their golden wedding.
Joan Moore, aged 72, and husband Donald, 77, of Mayfield Avenue, marked the anniversary with a family lunch.
Joan was born in Wyke, near Bradford, and moved to Huddersfield with her family when still a child. Donald was born and raised in Huddersfield.
They met and eventually married at Wiggan Lane Methodist Chapel, Sheepridge.
Donald was based in Palestine for 2½ years as part of his National Service, returning home in 1948.
He joined the Prudential Insurance Company, where he remained for 28 years.
His wife was a bespoke tailor. She sat on the Dalton Old Folk's Treat Committee for 27 years.
Both worship at St Paul's Methodist Church, Dalton.
The couple have a son, Ian, daughter, Jane, and one grand-daughter.
