A MAN has appeared in court accused of stealing his wife’s wedding ring and threatening her.

Andrew Cavanagh, of Clough Lea, Marsden, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is accused of taking the £2,000 ring, belonging to his wife Emma Cavanagh, on April 18.

The alleged offence took place at the couple’s home in Leymoor Road, Golcar, after they argued.

Cavanagh, 33, is alleged to have taken the ring after his wife told him to leave.

He is also alleged to have threatened to her that he would burn the house down.

Cavanagh denies both charges.

He faces trial at the magistrates’ court on July 13.

His bail conditions are not to contact prosecution witnesses nor go within 100 metres of Leymoor Road.
