Police have renewed an appeal for information over a series of paint ball drive-by ‘shootings’ as they reveal they are following up several lines of inquiry.
Those shot with the powerful paint ball gun include young people. Some have been left with painful bruises and paint on their clothes.
Gangs of men in cars have been blamed for the attacks. The weapon used is thought to be a JT ER2 .38 Calibre Paintball Gun. Packaging was found nearby.
Insp Mark Trueman, head of Kirklees Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are currently following up a number of positive leads in relation to the investigation including the analysis of CCTV footage.
“We believe that at least two vehicles may have been involved in these incidents and I would ask that any witnesses or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, and are yet to contact police, come forward and speak to officers.
“Fortunately, we do not believe that anyone has been seriously injured as a result of these incidents but I think that’s more down to luck than judgement, and those responsible need to be identified and brought before the courts.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Kirklees Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team via 101 quoting crime reference number 13150182605.
Information can also been given, anonymously and in confidence, to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
