A MURDER investigation has been launched in Marsden after a 19-year-old man has died.
A second man, aged 18, remains seriously ill in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
Paramedics were alerted police to the double stabbing off Manchester Road, Marsden in the early hours of this morning.
Both men, who are not believed to be local, were taken to hospital.
West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Enquiry Team HMET has now confirmed the 19-year-old died earlier this morning from stab wounds and a murder investigation is now underway.
Detective Supt Paul Taylor from HMET, told the Examiner: "I am keen to speak to anyone who witnesses these assaults.
"Were you out and about in Marsden last last night or early this morning and saw what happened? If so I need to speak to you urgently?
"Marsden is a close-knit community and if anyone hears any rumours about what has happened then I would ask them to get in touch."
He said detectives are now being deployed to the scene for forensics to be carried out. A strong police presence has been maintained around Towngate and Old Mount Road since the incident.
Any witnesses were asked to call police on 101.
