A GREEN group is helping women spruce up their wardrobes without breaking the bank.

Marsden and Slaithwaite Transition Towns (MASTT) are holding a clothes swap next week.

The event, which has been made possible by a £500 Examiner Community Cash Giveaway grant, aims to encourage recycling.

Organiser Marie-Claire Kidd said: “We want to raise awareness of green issues and do something positive locally.

“MASTT’s fashion events have been really popular in the past and there’s been quite a buzz about them.

“It just goes to show that environment groups can be glamorous.”

There will be free cocktails and canapes at the clothes swap at Colne Valley Leisure Centre in Slaithwaite on Saturday, May 8.

Tickets, priced £3, are available from the Green Valley Grocer and the Commercial on Carr Lane in Slaithwaite or through the MASTT website. All money raised will go to charity.
