Three masked raiders threatened shop staff with kitchen knives.

Their ordeal came during a terrifying shop robbery in Newsome.

The incident occurred at Simply Food and Wine store in Church Lane, Newsome.

Two assistants were in the store at 9.15pm on Sunday night when the robbers burst in.

They shouted at staff to ‘Hand over the money or you’ll get stabbed’.

The assistants did as they were told and handed over a quantity of cash.

The robbers then fled the store and removed bottles of spirits. No-one was injured.

Det Insp Andy Leonard of Huddersfield CID said: “We were called at 9.15pm on Sunday following reports of an armed robbery at Simply Food and Wine, Church Lane, Newsome.

“Three white male suspects were wearing scarves covering their faces. We are studying CCTV images and enquiries are ongoing.”
