A BRAVE shopkeeper and his wife were attacked and robbed in their Deighton store last night.
The 31-year-old shopkeeper attacked one of the armed thugs with a chair leg and his 30-year-old wife was punched in the face as they were robbed at gunpoint.
The two masked raiders escaped with cash from the till at the Corner Care Store in Riddings Road about 5.45pm.
Police said a male entered the shop and chatted to the shopkeeper at that time before leaving.
Seconds later, two masked men burst into the shop, pointing a black handgun at the shopkeeper.
One tried to get money from the till but was challenged by the shopkeeper’s wife, who was punched in the face.
Both men then ran from the shop as the shopkeeper hit one over the head with a chair leg.
Police urged anyone who saw the raid to contact them on 01484 436745.
One suspect was white, in his late teens, 5ft 6in tall and clean-shaven, with a local accent.
He wore a black zipped-up top and black tracksuit trousers.The second man was 5ft 8in tall and slim, with a black hooded tracksuit.
