ROBBERS terrified staff in an armed raid at a supermarket.

Two masked raiders walked into the United Co-op in Cleckheaton brandishing crowbars at 10.15pm last night.

A 59-year-old woman was stacking shelves at the store on Westfield Lane and a 19-year-old man was at the till.

One of the thieves grabbed the woman and marched her towards the till area while his accomplice threatened the teenager and demanded cash.

The intruder then jumped over the counter and used the crowbar to force open the till.

He grabbed the drawer and both thieves then fled.

Det Con Neil Johnson, of Kirklees CID intelligence unit, said: "Did anyone see them waiting outside the store before the raid or escaping afterwards?"

Both men are white, 5ft 6ins and stocky.

They wore black balaclavas.

One is in his 20s and wore a light, waterproof, three-quarter-length jacket.

The other wore a green waistlength coat.
