FREEMASONS have given £1,000 towards improving a residential cottage for Huddersfield area Guides.

The Albert Edward Lodge, based at Greenhead Masonic Hall near Huddersfield town centre gave the money to the Huddersfield Areal Guides cottage at Holme.

The money from the West Yorkshire Provincial Grand Master’s Fund will be spent on new bunk beds and chairs.

It will also go towards helping the building meet fire and safety regulations.

Masons Neil Lodge (left) and Philip Kaye, from the Albert Edward Lodge, are seen presenting the cheque to Guide Ellie Bedford (centre), watched by fellow Guides and cottage committee members.
