KIRKLEES Council leader Robert Light is expected to announce a multi-million-pound “masterplan” to transform Dewsbury today.
The plan, called Making It Happen, aims to trigger redevelopment and regeneration of the town centre.
At Dewsbury Town Hall Clr Light (pictured) and Kirklees Cabinet members will announce an update on development schemes and events to promote the town, including:
Multi-million-pound rolling investment for the town centre;
The Flames and Fountains event Wednesday, February 13;
A working agreement with Stayton Development for commercial redevelopment of the town centre;
Improvements to the Town Hall and £1m investment to improve the Walsh Building;
£150,000 to improve shopfronts;
£3m commitment for a new crematorium;
Further improvements to Dewsbury Market;
A renewed town centre management drive following the appointment of a new town centre manager.
