A MATHS magician made numbers come to life when he visited schools in the area.

Children's author Kjartan Poskitt entertained pupils at Kirkheaton Primary, Rowley Lane Junior and Infants at Lepton and King James's High School, Almondbury.

The visits were part of an effort by the high school to get students into numbers and make them fun.

King James's head of maths, Ken Peat, said he saw the show eight times and still enjoyed it.

He said: "We have been going around our feeder schools with Kjartan and the Magic Maths Show.

"It helps to raise the profile of maths and shows people that it can be more exciting than they think.

"It's a bit of fun and also leaves pupils with the feeling that they have had a good time."
