HUDDERSFIELD graduate Matt Stiff is one step away from a £1m record deal.

Matt and his vocal group, G4, have made it to the final of ITV1's talent show, The X Factor. And next Saturday G4 will go head to head with singer Steve to try to land the contract.

Matt, 24, studied music at Huddersfield University, where he gained a master's degree before moving on to the Royal School of Music. It was there he met the other three members of G4.

They were among 50,000 acts who entered the TV competition.

Their opera-style vocals saw them win through on Saturday night with a rendition of Queen's classic Bohemian Rhapsody and the carol, O Holy Night.

Irish singer Tabby was voted off during Saturday's show.
