WHERE better to meet the arrival of summer than at the top of Castle Hill.

Ranger Julian Brown will be leading a walk there on Thursday, May 1, to mark Beltain – the name the Celts gave to their celebration of the beginning of summer.

The walk, starting at 1pm, will be six miles long and moderate to hard. It will last around three hours. It is free but ring Tolson Museum on 01484 223830 to take part.

The meeting point is the car park at the top of Castle Hill.

Organisers advise walkers should have warm clothing and waterproofs and good footwear.
