A NEW mayor and mayoress have been picked for Calderdale.
Rastrick Tory councillor John Williamson and his wife Margaret, of Shannon Road, will take up their new post in May.
The couple were Calderdale's deputy mayor and mayoress in 1993/4. Clr Williamson was first elected to the council in 1990.
Clr Williamson is an Open University graduate and a retired lecturer in business studies.
In the past he has chaired the Calderdale branch of the Professional Association of Teachers and is a member of the council's School and Children's Service panel.
He is a member and former chairman of the Calder Valley Conservative Association and has been a member of the Brighouse Regeneration Forum.
