AN OUTLANE octogenarian honoured for her services to music has gained an MBE.
Enid Walker, 80, was presented with the award at Buckingham Palace by Prince Charles for her 62 years as an organist at several local churches.
When she was nominated in June she almost said no to it because she didn't like to make a fuss.
Miss Walker began her organ playing days at Outlane Methodist Church where she stayed for nine years before moving on to play at Linthwaite Methodist Church.
After 16 years she went to Huddersfield Methodist Mission to play and after five years moved to St Andrew's Methodist Church, Halifax. She has been there 32 years.
Miss Walker said she wasn't nervous before receiving the award.
She added: "I really enjoyed it. Prince Charles was very nice and it was a wonderful day and a wonderful experience."
