A Good Samaritan was badly beaten after intervening in an attack.

He suffered serious injuries when he tried to help a man who was attacked outside the McDonalds restaurant in Huddersfield town centre.

Now detectives have issued CCTV images of the two thugs they are hunting and appealed for witnesses.

The incident happened on June 2 but details have just been revealed.

Detectives in Huddersfield said the first attack happened at around 4.45am, outside the McDonalds restaurant on Kirkgate, when a 19-year-old man was knocked to the ground by an unknown male.

A second man, also aged 19, turned to try and help the victim but he too was assaulted by a second unknown male.

He received serious injuries for which he required hospital treatment.

Police said the first suspect was a white man, around 18, tall and of slim build, with short dark brown hair that was curly on top. He was wearing a light grey Nike sweatshirt top and dark coloured trousers.

The second suspect is described as a white man, in his late teens, tall and of slim build, with short dark brown hair that was longer on top. He was wearing a long, red quilted anorak and dark trousers.
