RESIDENTS concerned about a new school at Mount are to meet tomorrow.

Up to 150 people are expected at the public meeting at the YMCA complex at Laund Hill.

They are to debate plans for the new Moorlands Primary School which is due to replace the Outlane Infants and Outlane Junior Schools.

Some residents have already expressed concerns about various aspects of the plans.

Among their concerns are:

* The school is too close to houses in Wilmar Drive

* Wind turbines could form part of the plan

* A floodlit sports area is planned for the site

* Parking problems around the site

Mrs Janet Pickard, one of the Mount residents concerned about the plans, has helped organise the meeting, which starts at 6.30pm.

She said: "There has been one meeting when the plans were presented to people but now a number of concerns have come to light.

"People do want more details to be given so we have arranged the meeting tomorrow evening to try and see what the concerns are.

"We have asked local councillors to come along as well as representatives of the school governors.

"We know there is a need for a school on the site but we want it to be built in a way that satisfies everyone."

The planning application for the new school is expected to be submitted to Kirklees Council before Christmas.

Building work is not expected to start until September 2007.
