A hit and run driver is thought to have fled into woods following a crash at a crossroads.

The accident, involving a Vauxhall Astra and an Audi Q3, took place at the junction of Wilshaw Road, Thick Hollins Road and Netherthong Road, on Saturday at around 11.45am.

It is believed the driver of the Astra attempted to drive his damaged car away down Netherthong Road towards Meltham village.

But it is thought the driver fled into a wood after abandoning the vehicle 150 metres down the lane from the junction.

Nobody is thought to have been injured in the crash.
