A PROTECTIVE father damaged a door to get to his daughter after she stayed at a friend’s house without telling him.
Paul Gibson smashed two panels of glass on the door at the property in Ryefield Road, Golcar, after finding out that his 14-year-old daughter Amy was there.
He admitted criminal damage when he appeared before Huddersfield magistrates yesterday.
Carole Lawford, prosecuting, said that at just after midnight Gibson, 41, arrived at the address in his wife’s car.
He was seen smashing the door with an implement and shouting: ‘You’d better get my daughter out of this house or I’m going to kill you’.
He stopped when his wife asked him to and the couple left with their daughter.
Magistrates were told that Gibson, of Wetlands Road in Meltham, had a clear record since 1995.
They heard that he and his family had experienced some trouble with the family at the house in Golcar.
Gibson said his daughter had then texted him saying she was in the house and couldn’t get out.
Concerned for her safety, he then went to the house where he accepted kicking the door.
Magistrates ordered him to pay £250 compensation, £85 costs, a £50 fine and £15 victim surcharge.
