A GANG forced their way into an elderly woman’s house and took cash in a daylight robbery.

The three men barged the door open to the property on Helme Lane in Meltham, where the 87-year-old lives with her 64-year-old daughter.

Both women were threatened and pushed aside as the men searched the house before making off with a quantity of money.

The incident happened at 12.50pm on Thursday.

Acting sergeant Jason Thorpe, of Huddersfield CID, said: “Thankfully this type of incident is rare in Kirklees. This was a despicable and cowardly offence against two vulnerable ladies.

“Both were defenceless against three grown men who used all their weight to push open the door.”

He appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information to call him on 01484 436745 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
