PARENTS at a Meltham school have been reminded to park safely.

Police are checking motorists at Meltham Moor Primary School this week following a road safety scheme launched last month.

Officers returned to check parents were listening to previous warnings about ignoring parking restrictions and other road safety laws.

Only one fixed penalty notice was issued to a driver not wearing a seatbelt.

Police found motorists were sticking to the parking rules around the school overall.

Pc Natalie Bailey of The Valleys neighbourhood policing team, said: “The welfare and safety of all members of the public is our primary concern and by conducting this initiative we have ensured that drivers are adhering to simple rules and regulations.”

Headteacher Michael Whitfield said: “The vast majority of our parents park responsibly, it is a tiny minority who do not and don’t think about the possible consequences for the children or show consideration for our neighbours.”
