A MELTHAM woman has warned of a prize letter con.
Mrs Joan Whitehead, of Wessenden Head Road, received a letter from the United States, telling her she had won money – up to a staggering £3m!
But to claim her prize, she had to send a cheque for £20 as a recovery fee.
Mrs Whitehead said: "I knew straight away it was a con but other people may fall for it and think it’s worth risking £20.
"They sent a return envelope with an address on New York’s Eighth Avenue.
"I threw it in the bin and would urge others to do the same".
