A CHARITY hoping to build a children's hospice in West Yorkshire has received £1,100 in memory of a Marsh woman.

Alison Myatt, 45, died on July 2 from bowel cancer.

She had asked that all the money collected at her funeral should go to the Forget-Me-Not Trust, which plans to build a children's hospice in either Kirklees or Calderdale. As yet, a suitable site is to be identified.

Before becoming ill, Alison worked to raise cash for the charity with Yvonne Earnshaw, a colleague at Fillans and Sons jewellers in Market Place, Huddersfield.

Alison's partner, Dave Whitworth, joined Mrs Earnshaw and jeweller Richard Fillan to present the £1,100 to Forget-Me-Not Trust representative Mandy Barwick.

Mr Whitworth said: "Alison had worked for the charity before she was ill, but its importance was reinforced during her illness.

"She spent time in Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton, and she recognised the care and consideration patients get.

"She said it was like a home from home. They do a wonderful job," added Mr Whitworth.
