AN exhibition charting the recollections of a Holme Valley community group has gone on show.

Memories in Motion looks at the work of the Holme Valley Sharing Memories group, whose members range in age from 70 to 90

The exhibition, at the Tolson Museum in Ravensknowle Park, focuses on the work of the organisation over the last 16 years. It features photographs, pottery, portraits, rag rugs, felt hangings, a quilted banner and assorted memorabilia.

Project manager Sally Brown said: “The group has achieved so much since it was first formed in 1992.’’

The exhibition includes an example of the group’s work with Agewell, a group of ethnic older people from the Fartown and Birkby area.

A series of short films reveals some of the group’s fascinating stories and footage from a project recording rituals surrounding birth, marriage and death.

The exhibition will be on display at the Tolson Museum, until the end of March next year. It is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and Arts Council England.
