FUNERAL homes in Huddersfield have come up with a special way for people to remember their loved ones at Christmas.

Co-operative Funeralcare homes in Huddersfield and Slaithwaite, plus Mackness Funeral Service at Dalton and A E Coopers at Crosland Hill will be putting Christmas trees on display and inviting people to place cards on them in memory of loved ones who have died.

Families can also leave a small donation to a charity of their choice.

Brian Taylor, Co-operative Funeralcare regional manager, said: "The festive season is a particular time for reflection and remembering your loved ones.

"We hope our Christmas trees will benefit friends and relatives at this difficult time."

The scheme will start from December 14, when the funeral homes will stay open until 7.30pm.

They will open on other days from 10am until 4pm.
