INVESTORS in People today announced that West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive-Metro has been awarded Investors in People Champion status 2007.

The Investors in People Champions programme recognises employers that have boosted the productivity of their organisation through the way they manage and develop their employees. Each has demonstrated consistent commitment to people development as a way of delivering its organisation's goals.

Metro is responsible for setting policies to make public transport in West Yorkshire, reliable, easy to understand and use, accessible, attractive, affordable, safe and secure and efficient.

The Executive employs around 400 people at Wellington House, Crow Nest Lane and Phoenix House in Leeds and at travel centres and bus stations across West Yorkshire. As a Champion, the organisation will work with Investors in People UK to help other employers by sharing their experience and success in the area of people development.

Sheena Pickersgill, Director of Corporate Services, said, "We are delighted that our commitment to our people has been recognised by this prestigious award. We believe this accolade recognises our commitment to staff development, and the success that this has helped us achieve."
