A PARTNER at a law firm in Huddersfield has been named one of the UK’s top family Legal Aid solicitors.
Michael George, of Ridley and Hall, was a finalists in the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Awards 2011.
The winners in nine categories were announced by human rights campaigner Doreen Lawrence, the mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, at a ceremony held at London’s Globe theatre.
Mr George was praised by the judges for his ability to develop a rapport with his young, often distressed, clients.
Mr George joined Ridley and Hall in October, 2010, when the Market Street firm merged with his own legal practice, Michael George & Co, based in Dewsbury.
He has practised as a solicitor in the Kirklees area for more than 25 years and is a long-standing member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.
He represents children as well as parents and other family members.
