A man accused of breaking his former girlfriend’s eye socket was arrested after breaking his bail conditions.

Michael St Hilaire, of Hammond Street in Fartown, faces Leeds Crown Court over a charge of wounding.

His ex was left needing surgery to insert a plate into her cheekbone after her allegedly punched her.

The 26-year-old had been banned from contacting her or going to her Golcar home.

But he was arrested on suspicion of breaching the conditions twice.

Kirklees magistrates heard that on May 15 he approached his ex while she was at the Verve Bar in Huddersfield town centre.

They were told that he then contacted her 29 times in a three-hour period.

St Hilaire claimed that he only called her after she initiated contact but magistrates found both sets of breaches proved.
