A HOSPITAL worker based in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary became a TV star for the day.

The TV cameras captured Michelle Foster at work as part of a programme featuring her old school – the notorious Ridings School in Halifax.

Film crews visited the cardiology unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital to film Michelle.

Michelle, team leader of non-invasive cardiology at The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, is a former pupil of the school and appeared in an episode of Inside Out on BBC1 last night.

The Ridings will close next year after first hitting the headlines in 1996 for being a failing school. Michelle was a pupil there at the time.

Michelle, 28, of Ovenden, Halifax, said: “ I got fantastic support from the teachers and gained good grades. I also enjoyed the time I spent at The Ridings and will be sad to see it close.

“Staff and pupils, including myself, worked hard to turn things around for The Ridings, but it was not to be.”

Reporter Nicola Rees said: “It was great to interview a successful pupil of the school who had a positive experience there.”
