A HUDDERSFIELD pub has just become a double award winner.

The Rat and Ratchet in Chapel Hill won the Camra (Campaign for Real Ale) Mild Pub of the Year award for the district.

It is a second title for the pub, which was also named the Camra Pub of the Year for the area.

Members of the public voted for the latest award.

Local Camra chairman Mark Davies – pictured on the left with landlord David Kendall-Smith, who is with son George – said: “Despite stiff competition the Rat was a deserved winner.

“The pub always has a mild on offer.

“The pub held the first ever mild festival in the area in May last year and held an even more successful one in May this year.

“David even brewed a mild at Riverhead Brewery in Marsden to celebrate the birth of his son.”
