A GOLF day sponsored by a Huddersfield firm has raised almost £9,000 for charity.
Heart Research UK held the Love Your Heart golf day at Howley Hall Golf Club in Morley.
As well as sponsoring the event, sales and marketing business The Miles Group, based at Fitzwilliam Street, entered a team of four – which included ex-Town goalkeeper Alan Starling.
Geoff Dickinson, managing director of The Miles Group wanted to support Heart Research UK after being fitted with an aortic heart valve last October.
He said: “Having benefited, probably in a life-saving way, from a procedure made possible through medical research, I am delighted to be able to add my support to Heart Research UK.
“I was only disappointed to discover that my heart operation didn’t improve my golf. Perhaps that’s something we can overcome with a little more research!”
Sixteen teams took part in the golf day, which was won by Pontefract Squash Club.
Some of the prizes were donated by Direct Golf in Huddersfield.
