MARK Garrett had a hot idea to celebrate a milestone in business.

He has cleaned his 1,000th oven since starting his oven valeting service almost two years ago.

And the Ovenu franchisee decided to give the ovens at Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton, a full service free of charge.

Mr Garrett, of Howard Way, Meltham, became an Ovenu franchisee in June, 2003.

Since then, the firm nation- ally has grown into a £3m turnover business, with almost 100 franchises covering various parts of the UK.

The service covers ovens and other kitchen equipment, including extractors, microwave ovens and barbecues.

Mr Garrett said: "I had to mark the milestone in a special way.

"I felt Kirkwood was a worthwhile organisation which has done so much for so many people in Huddersfield."

Hospice catering manager Yvette Marks-Hanson said: "Mark did a great job and we're really delighted.

"He was really friendly and surprised us all with how easy he made it look," she said.

Mr Garrett said: "Cleaning the oven is just one of those jobs you either love or hate."

He added: "It's such a simple business idea. I've been really surprised at how quickly I've reached this milestone."
