A FIRM supplying oils and lubricants for the motor industry has joined forces with bus giant Stagecoach.

Brighouse-based Millers Oils has been named as one of only two suppliers to provide a range of commercial vehicle oils for the transport company’s fleet of 7,000 buses and coaches.

Millers Oils will also work with the company on projects to improve the operational efficiency of its buses, which include ones serving routes in and out of Huddersfield.

Stagecoach, based in Perth, Scotland, is one of the UK’s largest bus operators – running express and local bus services across the country, as well as a comprehensive network of inter-city operations.

The company has invested more than £200m in new vehicles over the past three years.

Millers Oils has a range of technically advanced engine oils, transmission oils and fuel treatments for commercial vehicles which are designed to reduce fuel and servicing costs, minimise downtime for maintenance and repair and reduce the impact of emissions on the environment.

It will provide products to Stagecoach from its distribution sites at Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and Glasgow. It will also support Stagecoach depots across the UK from its head office.

Steve Woollven, joint managing director at Millers Oils, said: “This partnership is fantastic for Millers Oils and for Stagecoach.

“We pride ourselves on the quality and depth of the services we can offer companies such as Stagecoach, with leading technical support, the flexibility and innovation necessary to respond to specific product and customer requirements, and the ability to support effectively a network of service depots covering the whole of the UK.

“We are also delighted to assist Stagecoach in their objective to keep improving the operational efficiency of their fleet and have been engaged in a number of interesting projects to support them in these areas”

Adrian Havlin, Stagecoach group technical engineer, said: “About two million people a day rely on our bus services in the UK and it is crucial we are able to operate a reliable fleet.”

The contract success comes just months after Millers Oils, which has more than 100 employees, completed the key takeover of North Yorkshire firm Falcon Lubricants – enabling it to expand into oil management services and waste oil collection.
