OVER £45m will be invested in new affordable housing for West Yorkshire, a Government agency said yesterday.

The Housing Corporation says it will build 1,357 affordable homes across the county over the next three years as part of a national £8.4bn scheme.

Housing Minister Caroline Flint (pictured) said: “We need more homes in every region to ensure first-time buyers and families have decent and affordable housing to buy or to rent.

“This money will go towards doubling the amount of affordable, sustainable homes being built over the next three years and will increase the number of family-sized and rural homes.”
