A DANCE teacher is hot-footing it down to Buckingham Palace!

Peter York and his wife Roma (pictured) have been invited to the Queen’s garden party on July 21.

The special invite is in recognition of Peter’s services to dancing in the community over the past 34 years.

The Milnsbridge man began his professional career in 1975, after spending 12 years as an amateur championship dancing competitor under the late Charles Frost.

He managed the Charles Frost School of Dancing, then in 1981 transformed a derelict site into his own school, York Dance Studios.

He became British Dance Council scrutineer and Championship Adjudicator, later achieving the highest honour of Fellow and Examiner of the International Dance Teachers Association.

With the help of his wife Roma, Peter put up to 1,000 junior and adult medalists a year through the IDTA medalist system.

The couple now teach adult social dance classes and professionals for further qualifications.

On their invitation to the palace, Peter said: “My wife and I feel honoured to be asked to attend the garden party in the presence of the Queen.

“We feel that we are representing Huddersfield and the local community.”
