A MAN has appeared in court accused of attacking his former girlfriend.

Duncan Geddes, of Market Street, Milnsbridge, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is accused of assaulting Tina Butler occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Geddes faces a further charge of breaching a non-molestation order made at Huddersfield County Court in December.

The 39-year-old denies both allegations.

Vanessa Schofield, prosecuting, said that the incident happened on July 7.

She said that during the alleged attack Geddes put his hands around Miss Butler’s neck in a “strangulation manner”.

Ms Schofield said that this caused her to lose consciousness.

The prosecutor said that in having contact with Miss Butler, Geddes was breaching a non-molestation order.

This bans him from contacting her and going within 100 metres of her.

The court was told that at the time of the alleged attack, Miss Butler was living on the same floor as her ex.

Magistrates told Geddes that his case would eventually be heard by a crown court.

He was released on conditional bail until his next appearance before the Huddersfield court on September 3.

His bail conditions are that he lives and sleeps at an address on Ridgeway in Dalton.

Geddes is also banned from contacting Miss Butler and entering Market Street.
