HUDDERSFIELD'S oldest park received a massive boost of support with a visit from a Government minister.
Ben Bradshaw MP, Minister of State for the Local Environment, arrived at Beaumont Park on a fact-finding mission.
He was invited by local MP Kali Mountford as part of The Friends of Beaumont Park's mission to rejuvenate the park.
She and the minister spent a morning walking some of the 29 acres of the park landscape with representatives of the 500-strong Friends pressure group.
The minister was impressed by the historic park's spectacular features as he long overstayed his planned time.
He spent the extra time talking in great depth with the Friends team about their ideas to develop the park as an environmental educational centre.
He left promising to provide information of developing Government plans to explore similar possibilities nationwide.
