MEMBERS of a community centre used by Ryan Hawkins (right) have observed a minute’s silence for the four-year-old, who was stabbed to death last month.

Ryan attended playgroup at Slaithwaite Community Centre.

Members of the community association stood for a minute’s silence as a mark of respect at the group’s AGM last week.

Chairwoman Janet Jobber then presented the annual report detailing refurbishment of the main hall. She also revealed plans for work on the cloakrooms once funds can be found.

All officeholders were re-elected with the exception of committee member Emma O’Neill, who stood down after more than five years because of other commitments.

Mrs Jobber said: “We would like to thank her for all her efforts and support.”

The Slaithwaite Community Association celebrates its 25th anniversary next year.
