A BIG family event is planned for Mirfield’s Community of the Resurrection.

Staff at the Anglican church and theological centre will host a garden party jamboree in aid of its appeal to fund major works.

The doors and grounds of the House of Resurrection will be opened to the public on the afternoon of July 25 for a day of fun and fundraising.

Tours of the gardens and church will also be organised, along with the chance to hear the local brass band and attend Evensong.

It is part of a campaign to restore the community’s striking early 20th century church building, which is in need of major refurbishment and repair to enable its continued use by a vast number of people.
