CYCLISTS presented their Helicopter Heroes with a cash boost.

Mirfield cycling legend Brian Robinson, who won two stages of the Tour De France in the 1950s, and cycling enthusiast, Clr Martyn Bolt, presented The Yorkshire Air Ambulance with a cheque for £1,500.

The money for the stars of the BBC1 series was raised at the annual Brian Robinson Challenge Ride event.

The cycling fans learned that between January and October the YAA attended 19 road accidents involving cyclists and 24 off-road cyclist were helped.

Clr Bolt said: “We see daily the work which our air ambulance crews do in saving lives and helping injured people in Yorkshire.

“It costs £7,200 every day just to have the facility, without a helicopter even taking off, so I am pleased to support this worthy cause and wish them well in the future.”
